As a few of you know i'm coding a browser to beat the unstable IE7 and resource/bandwidth hog "Google Chrome"

I'm looking for a few new Ideas to implement into this thing, something totally different to any other browser!
I will add your guys' names in the credit where credit is due. (In the About Window)
so c'mon and lets build the best browser there is!

Features so far:
- Built-In Bandwidth Monitor
- Intuitive Back/Forward Navigation (Click far left/Right)
- Maximum Screensize!
- Homepage "caching" (when it starts up, or when you click home)

Features Todo:
Favourites
Links (Best of the Web, Built-In - and with the site's logo too!)
Add Stuff to Bandwidth Monitor (Bytes Sent/Received, Display IP Address, etc)

BugFixes Todo:
Dual Monitor Setup Bug
Make Bandwidth Monitor Stretch accross Screen

NetGEAR version 1.2 Link (LOCAL LINK!) :)

Check it out now!

I've tried it out for a short while.

In Vista it is a bit buggy:
1. The tab key doesn't work.
2. The minimise, maximise and exit buttons don't appear.
3. The sequence of pressing the "enter" key and then the "shift" key in the quick reply box on this forum takes you back to the News page.

I wish you the best of luck dude. I really hope its a kick ass browser.

Haven't used your browser but I feel tabs are a must, if not already implemented. Now, with FF, the tabs work great, but I'd like to have different sets of tabs, where you can page through them. To give you an example, say I do some research for work. I open 15 websites, and work away. Now, come 5:00 or whatever, I close up my laptop and head home, where I want to continue browsing a bit, but personal stuff. Now I'm stuck with 15 tabs, all squished in at the top, with even MORE tabs being opened as I browse. Now, if I could store all the pages from work temporarily, without bookmarking them, I'd be happy as punch.

1) LOL I don't use tab when browsing really - will check
2) Thats because they arent there YET
3) Will look into it. Also, I don't have vista to test it...

Interesting... I don't feel this is an important feature but will implement it anyway:D.

Will this help:
A feature to quick-save all tabs and sites you have onscreen as a "State" and then be able to load that "state" back again when needed?

I like it.

and yes, tabs will be implement soon (if not next) but I wanna get a few ideas first...

What's best?
- Normal Tabs
- Tabs with little thumbnails of the websites themselves
- You press a key and see a fullscreen grid-view of all websites, in thumbnails.
- You press a key and see an "iPhone Cover-flow type view" in fullscreen

i've added built-in Links into the browser (click the heart icon) with Logo's and everything! (Version 1.2 - download from the First Link)

Please tell me what site's you would like to add to the list! (I'm not removing any, just adding - the user will be able to customize his own link set soon)

I haven't made tabs just quite yet, I need some ideas!

Is anyone still interested in this browser or does it just suck?

Have not tried it myself so can't comment about it, the only reason I have not tried it is because the browser does not offer anything I need really plus no tabs and uses IE system files.

Good try though I'm sure you'll find people with your taste in a browser to support you.

It has no tabs because i need you guys to give your opinion on how you would like the tabs to work, before I start coding it.

It has nothing new to offer yet but i have worked quite a lot on it the last 2 days and im QUICKLY adding features one by one. whatever you guys can think up, I can hopefully Implement into this thing.

I need Ideas, nothing more...

I normally use the "tab" key to get from the "username" block to the "password" block and then the "enter" button on websites;).

With regards to tabs, I like the ones in Opera:
* The tab itself has just the site favicon, name and little cross on top right hand corner to close.
* When you move the mouse over any of the tabs a pop-up shows you a preview of the content on that tab.

Can you add a note pad of sorts? like something that you can save bits of text... and it save it in the browser...

JavaScript is a must and it must work well...
yes, I like the tabs that FF uses (where you click the scroll button on a link and a tab opens)

theme's?
how about a media player (for like music, and it must be really compact and simple)

Awesome browser, I like the fact that its super quick when starting up

An idea - replace the clicking on the right and left of the screen to navigate forward and back to a more 'organic' feel of moving the mouse sharply to the let or right of the screen. :)

thanx, i'm doing my best LOL

good idea man, ive found that on a wide aspect screen it's a bit far to go right or left if your mouse is on the other side!

so far i haven't seen any other browser match my browsers speed when you click home. if others don't believe me, test it yourself.

I kinda like this Idea :D

As soon as you sort the tabs, NetGear will be my browser of choice :D:cool:

Meh...Not enough people want it...and i'm so busy with work, coding on two other personal projects, trying to sort out my HDD problems, and playing spore...LOL

I will try to get it past beta soon though, but not working on it every day...

Will update the thread as new versions become available for you guys (well, for those that kinda like it)

Got any cool links I can add to the Links bar on the left, though?

Just tied it. Cool for a personal project but generally sucks.

No Tabs, No M$ Top Window Bar, Virus Scanner went crazy and Acid Test 2 was a big blob of red, and that was in the first minute.

Duly deleted....

Tabs NOT YET FSCKING IMPLEMENTED FSCKING YET...LOL
Like I said - who needs a M$ bar - i'm going for a better web experience than a blue bar.
Virus scanner? no problems here...weird.
Whats Acid Test 2?

Fair enough

I use it all the time, so it detracted from my experience. Plus 4mm of sceen space is hardly a lot.

Latest Zone Alarm with all the updates. (At work, don't ask)
Whats Acid Test 2?
Acid Test's are used to check a browsers ability to parse html java script etc to the latest Web Standards. FF3 and Crome pass this (not sure about IE)
Acid Test 3 is already out so you got a lot of work to do :p
