I work for a small NGO (about 20 employees) and our company is considering training up a staff member to assume the role of network admistrator. Would a position such as this require more than 3-4 hours a day, and could anybody recommend some decent institions that offer part-time training courses?

Thanks!

depends on infrastructure, services run and computer literacy of users.

if you configure (linux) servers properly, they require very limited maintenance.

i don't see maintenance taking more than 3-4 hours a week!

Users in my office are basically borderline computer literate, lol. Also it's a Windows based infrastructure :/

Most of your issues will be PEBKAC ones, a server (be it NIX based or WINDOWS based) once setup should fine without any problems. So 3-4 hours a week is more like it.
