I was wondering, what if my life depended on being able to get through on my first call using Vodacom....

I work in the Menlyn erea, and as of late are unable to make first time calls "Network Busy", i am not the only person as we did tests from all the Vodacom Handsets in the office...

Is the towers in Menlyn overcrowded or what is the cause of this?

112 are priority calls, so if you called 112, an existing connection will be dropped to make room for that call.

Are only calls to 112 prioritised? Because if I actually had an emergency I'd probably need to call quite a few other numbers before needing 112, e.g. armed response, private ambulance, AA etc. which are all "normal" numbers.

I would assume that you are talking about 082 911 perhaps. Dunno if it is prioritised, but it surely is possible.

Numbers 112 and 147 are definitely priority calls on the VC network

i experience the same problem all the time... i too am in the menlyn area... it sucks .... big bollox..... and i will be cancelling both my contracts because of this as soon as i can.

Same here.Work in the Menlyn area. About 10minutes ago, I needed to make a call and couldn't.Switched my handset off, turned it on again and still didn't work.Network Busy is the reason, needed to wait a few minutes before I could make a call.

I’m now bloody unhappy with vodacom. A fellow employee and myself we out of the office and somebody arrived to see us at about 13:00 today. Nobody from the office could reach either of us on our vodacom numbers across the road from Menlyn.

This tower is now becoming a real problem. It’s been a problem for more than a month. What is going on Vodacom3G?

Mmm, i guess not even Vodacom knows what, why and when the problem will be resolve, seems Nobody Cares  .

I was in menlyn shopping centre last night could not make a phone call until i got past General Louise botha ave toward Hans Strydom.

I don't know, no wait n know, Can't wait for number portability!! yeaaha!

They do know about it because I did report it. I am however not surprised that there has been no response from Vodacom3G and I am surprised that there has been no response from IC.

Turn on the phone's auto-redial function. I find it works wonders. I usually connects on the first re-dial if I got a "netowrk busy" msg.
