I'm testing some different network cameras from Axis, using free Windows Axis Camera Station One software for recording and management.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some OSS applications that I can run on (K)Ubuntu, Mepis or the like that are compatible with these cameras?

Are you looking at motion detection and capturing?

I've previously used software called 'motion' for that exact purpose together with a Axiz camera. It worked pretty well. Unfortunately I can not find the link right now. You can also have a look at ZoneMinder (http://www.zoneminder.com/) if that is your purpose....

Yes, I'm using the Axis 211 specifically for motion detection and capture. I'll have a look at Zoneminder. Thanx for the help....

Zoneminder will do what you need perfectly - and u can give it virtually any ip / analogue cam and be able to motion detect, and record! Works well on Ubuntu/Kubuntu - I run two servers at home with assorted cameras.

Thanks Ryder, off home now, can I mail you tomorrow for more info? If OK, please PM me with mail adress
