Network capacity at major events

V3g, it would be interesting to know what you guys did to ensure coverage - unless you don't want to make all your "radio tricks" public ;)

In the case of Durbs the guys did not really do anything special for this concert.

Firstly, they did not know about it.....

Secondly, they were confident the network in place was designed for these events and could handle it. From feedback it sounds like it did.

Pretoria confirmed they were not informed about the Centurion concert. The permanent capacity at the site is designed to cater for normal events but when the stadium grounds and field will also fill up (as in this case) they might need to add additional capacity but in this case did not know about the event.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your phone always chooses the strongest tower, so then what if you used the netmonitor to lock the phone to a weaker tower some distance away from the event but one that is probably not overloaded? Could this work?

I'd also like to know how to lock on to a specific cell. I don't see that answered or did I miss it?
