Network disconnection

Hi all

Hoping you can offer some advice.

I ported from Vodacom prepaid to MTN contract a few months ago and since then, about once a week, the phone would show no network available.

I could do a network search, see all the networks and it correctly shows MTN 2G and MTN 3G as my home networks. It won't let me connect to them though. A reboot fixes the issue.

I put in a UK sim and over a 2 week period, had no connections issues. Plug in the MTN sim and a few days later I had a disconnection issue. I even did a sim swop but the issue remains.

Phoned the MTN coverage line and they say it's contract/sim issue and they transferred me to the help desk. The help desk says it's a coverage issue!

Currently using Sony Z1 Compact running Kitkat 4.4.4.

Has anyone with a ported number experienced these issues?
Any ideas?

Hey Mr M

In have a S5 and every now and then I don't have network. I switched my my settings to manual so i know when my signal goes. I have also contacted MTN and they said the problem not on their side. I have tons of people complaining that my phone always goes to voicemail.

Everytime i get the exclamation mark on my notification panel I have to manually search for the MTN network.

@ Dr_Data - PM sent.

Thank you.

@Rido - I also did the search option and it sees that the MTN network is my home network (home icon next to them) but it won't let me connect to the network.
