Hi guys
A few months ago lightning hit my pc and damaged the onboard network card. Since then i purchased myself a pci network card called "realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast ethernet adaptor".
For some strange reason, whenever i transfer files over the lan network or i download files over the net.. after a random period of time my pc receives a blue screen error and reboots. I am pretty certain that it's only when the above 2 activities take place. If i don't transfer or dl my pc will remain active for days without rebooting.
I've tried finding new drivers for the specific card but I'm not able to find anything more updated than the 1.0.0.1 version which was released in 2002(quite old). I've tried downloading other drivers with the name RTL8139 but those don't pick up..
coincedentaly my brother had the same lightning damage as me and i got him the same network card. His network card has the exact same problem..
Is there a possibility that these cards are damaged, or is it merely a driver issue? I don't know how to resolve this, worse case i go purchase new network cards, but if possible i'd like to fix it..
Any idea's would be appreciated
Regards
Marco
