Network product testers needed

Busy with Review, the firmware update you posted is the same version as the router comes with :/

Hi PsyWulf,

Does Extender mode work with a LAN cable connected to the primary gateway via the WAN port?

Thanks

Hopefully I will be able to tell you that this weekend.

I need to move my Telkom infrastructure into the new study, but if this Extender works, I can postpone that for a few weeks until I have a few other things finalised in the study.

I'll give it a jab tonight

The lack of allowing spaces in the Wireless network name means i'll have to redo my network settings first :P

One thing I have picked up during testing too is the speeds are fairly average, but Signal penetration is quite impressive

Thanks guys

I'll keep pushing LB-Link for a firmware update

I've not been able to connect to my network successfully, so postponing the review until such time.

Anyone gave feedback yet on the LB-Link 150Mbps Nano Wireless N USB Adapter?

I have the Edimax ones and need a few more. Unable to get the Edimax ones no idea why. Please guys, feedback on whoever is testing is.

Just ordered the LB-Link 10dBi 150Mbps and LB-Link 300Mbps Wireless N Range Extender.
Will provide some feedback once they arrive and how they perform.

Review's almost finished, been testing the unit and can report i'm pretty happy for the most part

Extender mode does require a cable in the WAN port connected to the gateway. You can configure it without the cable but I got a "Connection Fail" under the extended SSID until it was plugged in

Looking forward to it :)

ps - Is Extender mode same as WDS?

No,WDS repeats a wireless signal without a cabled backbone

I've seen no indication in the AP software to indicate WDS capability but I'll be dissecting and retesting the menus in case there's a translation issue
I've also been unable to get any PoE info on it
Also the WAN port might indicate PPPoE/PPPoA functionality but it has none - so i'm calling it an Access Point rather than a Router :P

Spent some time with the Hardware and it has been mostly positive.
LB-Link 10dBi 150Mbps and LB-Link 300Mbps Wireless N Range Extender.

The range extender in AP mode was a tad stronger than my Dlink 2750u.
Ended up using it as an extender instead of AP.
Going through 2 walls, laptop maintained 3 bars of signal using built in radio, speed fluctuated between 6-15Mbps.
Same location as above but using the High gain adapter 5 bars of signal.

Connecting to the Extender through 4 walls using the 10dBi usb adapter did provide some strange results.
First connection showed -59dBm signal with a link speed around 11mbps but despite staying connected for 30 min, not one packet made it through.

After moving it around a bit I found a spot where packets start flowing at -63dBm signal and a link speed fluctuating between 2mbps - 11mbps.
While the provided app showed 11mbps link speed , true output was between 1-2mbps.
The link was quite stable once I got it going, did not drop at all.

Note the signal fluctuated between -63dBm & -71dBm in the above test.
