I'm busy doing a network clean and would like to upgrade some things.
I would like to mostly stay within the Omada / TP-Link / Vigi family where it matters.
The reason why I'd like to upgrade is I need a decent outdoor wifi for wireless cameras (Vigi C540-W) and because my network has been very unstable in the last year. Wifi often drops, connection to cameras have been poor, and even wired connections drop, often requiring a router reset.
My current setup consists of:
ISP Provided TP-Link EX511
Mercusys unmanaged 8 Port POE 10/100/1000
2 x Asus ZenWifi XD4 nodes
Vigi NVR1008H 8 channel NVR
HP Proliant Microserver NAS
100mb fibre
I am also in the process of relocating all my networking to a dedicated cupboard.
My thoughts are making the following changes with the move:
Router -
Upgrade to TP-Link ER605 - I dont need wifi capabilities on the router but I would like to setup a VLAN for my NVR. I might want to setup a VPN at a later stage. I am also hopeful that this will make my network more stable.
Switch -
Add a 10/100/1000 16 port switch to manage normal wired connections for, TV's, and PC's. Considering its unmanaged, I'm looking at the Cudy 16 Port Switch
Mercusys 8 Port POE to remain in place only for camera's and AP's
Add in 16 port patch panel to tidy up wiring
Access Points -
Add TP-Link EAP225 / AC1200 for current wifi cameras (current wifi barely reaches and connections drop)
At a later stage, change the Asus Zenwifi XD4 nodes to TP-Link EAP610 AP's (2 needed)
Luxuries -
I may consider adding in an OC200 at a later stage
