Networking help needed

Hi all
I have 2 networked xp computers via a mega 105 adsl modem. main computer connects fine to internet and browser. 2nd computer connects fine via ftp but web browser bombs out with error 'cannot connect- check settings". the funny thing is if i use a dialup adsl account on this computer , it works fine.
what's going on here.
could it be the winxp sp3, that i installed last week?

reset modem and such but no luck.
 
What SP are you on now?

Edit: SP3 seem to have an DNS issue. Did you try and manually put int he DNS addresses under SP3?

i am on sp2.
did not try your suggestion mainly because i did not want to mess up my network (just in case):o

Check that account isn't shared.

Also in Internet Options > connections > LAN settings > Automatically detect settings,
on or off?
 
This has been said time and time again:

SP3 and Mega 10x don't play well together.

To solve, either download the hotfix from Microsoft, or enter your router's address manually in the DNS field on affected computers.

address would be like 10.0.0.2 ?
