Neuralink planning first human trials within 6 months

Elon Musk’s Neuralink Corp. aims to start putting its coin-sized computing brain implant into human patients within six months, the company announced at an event at its Fremont, Calif. headquarters on Wednesday evening.

Neuralink has been refining the product, which consists of a tiny device and electrode-laced wires, along with a robot that carves out a piece of a person’s skull and implants it into the brain.

done with the Monkeys and now time for the Humans already?
isnt there laws about Human testing, and how safe it must be proven before Human trials commence.

The Democrats brought mass poverty over America. A lot of homeless people there in California with crazy laws and DA's who do not want to prosecute offenders. Use them for testing. No one will even know.

America is Lawsuit and class action crazy, even if they sign a million waivers,
somebody will have a fit, human testing is going on.

Isn't the article about the fact that the laws have allowed him to continue to human testing? ‍♂️

There are people in the US walking around with ocular implants that once was able to make them see. Those companies went bankrupt and eventually these devices stopped functioning.
Let's hope neuralink doesn't go the twitter direction. Over employed over funded because of fake numbers, with business departments that dont do business and needing tons of people fired or the company has to shut down.

Yeah, fck that. You know it's gonna end up with some company beaming McD ads straight into your brain.
Some pleb probably resisted phones for the same reason "ads straight into our pockets" and in the end they got a phone because to function without a phone in a society where everyone has a phone becomes tricky. When everyone has a neural interface, the rest will likely follow.

The thing I'm looking forward to is quicker interfacing with my pc because I'm tired of this monkey moving a mouse bullshit. I know exactly what I want to do - let me just do it without having to physically move my hand to virtually move a cursor in a digital environment.

Bro, this isn't the same as phones.

This is literally going into your brain.

Let's not pretend they're equal.

It's one thing to have a thing in your pocket.
It's something way more serious when it's literally directly interfacing with your brain.

Ja, I'm not saying they're the same. I'm saying when your peers have a neural interface and are coding/designing at 5x the speed & efficiency you're able to, how much choice will you really have? If coding and designing interfaces change completely so suit neural interaction - again, hardly much choice but to go with the flow. Resistance is futile.

Oh yeah sure. Societal pressure is a thing.

I was responding more to the beginning of your comment.

But even societal pressure. This might be the thing that's a bit too far.

Remember the backlash against people who wore Google glass years ago?

People wanted others to remove them and some businesses flat out refused to let the devices in.

Neuralink might be the step that's just too far.

From the article...

Synchron Inc., for example, has been able to implant a small stent-like device into the brains of patients in Australia and the US.

The product has made it possible for patients who were unable to move or speak to communicate wirelessly via computers and their thoughts.

Onward Inc. has also done breakthrough work restoring some movement in people with spinal cord injuries.

Not exactly the best example in swaying people considering the Borg were hated and their complete reliance on cybernetics and perceived superiority because of them, was what made them the hated bad guys.

The federation didn't embrace population wide use of cybernetics, cybernetic implants were only used for the disabled.

Picard's Borg is different.

that's my concern as well, if cellphones and the internet are bad enough,
now its connected directly into your brain, so many sci fi works on why that's a very bad idea.

Money, Criminal records, risky Behavior, access rights and so much else.
all inside your brain,

were getting closer and closer to a society where everybody is chipped and tagged like cattle,
able to be easily controlled and manipulated on a grand scale.

I bet Authoritarian regimes (China/Iran/Cuba) are like me too, me too!!!
