I always used to get desktops as they were faster and easier to expand/replace parts AND cheaper. Plus you could build parts in there that you wanted in there.

So when the time came for to upgrade again, it was suggested I move to a Laptop (by the boss...) because I go to customers often and sometimes require a laptop for demo's or reloading firmware. Plus my studies would go easier if I could work on one environment etc, etc... List is long... So there was motivation for a laptop.

Normal laptops were not going to work ( I need graphics as well as decent CPU) but the high end side is also the high cost side and out of my reach. Browsing around I found a couple of machines that would work well and it was a toss up between a Dell, HP, Asus and Gigabyte. I settled on the Gigabyte as it was cheaper than the other 3, had the same specs with similar performance and 2 year warranty. So now I am the proud owner of a Gigabyte Sabre G15 Laptop. Its only 15" BUT I use a nice large screen next to it for the CAD stuff. I do like the speed at which things happen. I do not have any lag with the cad stuff even with huge models in Solid Works. PCB's in Altium's 3D view is loaded so much faster than on the desktop and do not "stutter" when moved around. Even the Tensorflow stuff runs better...
Nice thing is the keyboard is backlit so I can see what I type with my 4-finger typing technique...

I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend anyone to get one if they need a powerful laptop on a medium size budget.
