Hi All,

Got my new 4MB uncapped line installed today. The internet feels slower then what I expected in comparison with the 1MB line I had. Read that Telkom has their own speed test app and used that. Below the outcomes. Is this normal for a 4MB line? I'm connecting wireless from my laptop and I'm 1m away from the router

Test 1
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1070 kbps (133.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 445 kbps (55.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 203 ms
Jitter: 89 ms

Test 2
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1202 kbps (150.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 453 kbps (56.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 259 ms
Jitter: 645 ms

Anything I'm doing wrong or settings I can/should change?
Would appreciate any help. Thanks

No, that looks pretty bad.

Check the line stats on your router and also make sure when you run these tests that nothing else is using the line. The latency in these results is abnormally high (if you were using the Telkom speedtest which is local).

Using this link http://capetown.spdtst.saix.net/
Will check if anyone else is using the internet and do the test again. My kids are sleeping (normally on youtube). Only wife awake and if she in on the internet it is wahtsapp or facebook which does not make a big difference as far as I'm aware but I'll check.

What must i check on the line stats?

Another test....looks worse now

Will try and analyse the numbers. Thanks

At a glance those numbers look fine, although without the column headers I don't know the context of the two values for each.

I'd start eliminating variables, try first to get hooked up over a ethernet cable to see if it's any better. Also try a different ISP, I think Axxess still has free 1GB accounts that you can try.

Yeah looks pretty good. Probably something hogging the internet.

Will try some other options yes. Just felt a lot slower then expected

Maybe you are incredibly far from the Telkom box.

Or they gave you a 1Mbps line
