Ok, I need a new router, budget is about R1200. Im looking for something above R800, good quality and if it looks good, even better, since the router will stand next to my tv in the living room.

Problem with current router is that the wireless is rubbish, its that free thing from Telkom. I also need gigabyte ports on the router.

Another nice thing to have, will be something on the router that enables me to block torrents and prioritize gaming traffic, or just something from blocking torrents during gaming time. I thing there is a name for something like that, but I will figure it out later.

My current option is this:
http://www.takealot.com/tp-link-4-port-300mbps-wireless-n-gigabit-adsl2-modem-router/PLID28719979

It has 2 usb ports, witch is also nice, gigabyte ports, 3 antenna's, witch is probably better then 2...

Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Also, the best place to actually buy a router from in cape town area.

EDIT:

I think I will go for this one.

that looks good. whne I have enough mula im going to buy that pace router. its vdsl but backward compatible with adsl. so when one day Telkom smiles on me I can go faaaaaaaast!

You can't go wrong with TP Link as they are fantastic products! When I upgraded my router I didn't mind having a separate modem and router so I opted for the following:

TD-8817 - ADSL2+ Ethernet/USB Modem Router
TL-WDR4900 - N900 Dual Band Router

The N900 router I bought above doesn't seem to be available anymore however if you are able to stretch your budget a little bit you could always opt for the faster AC TP-Link router and the modem above can be bought for as little as R199 from here.

The suppliers were out of stock of the TP-Link TD-W8980, also, I should have said Modem and not router, I have a space/neatness issue, and already have a gigabyte switch and raspberry pi and external hard drive and 7 lan cables going to 1 point, with a smart TV and a laptop close by, and adding another device in the mix wont work.

I guess the problem is going to be finding a modem that the suppliers actually have.

Stay away from TP-Link

Nothing but bad experiences with them including their latest ac router (Archer D7) - 4 different router / modems

Do yourself a favour and go for an Asus router / modem

You will thank me later

I looked at some of the Asus modems, close to R2000 and they don't even have gigabyte ports...
