New ADSL user issue (possible username/password issue)

The Telkom guy came this morning and installed everything - but obviously I had no time to test.

He did show me the green 'Internet' light on the router before he left and said all I needed to do was get the username/password from 10210, put it in and I'm away.

I phone 10210 and get my username/password SMS'd to me when I get to work and wait the whole day to come home and play! I get home a little earlier, log in on my iPad and enter the username/password (override the guest login).

The router resets, but now the light is red :/ I can't do anything ... so do a factory reboot and it's green on the guest access. Enter the details again, but it goes red. Factory reboot again and green .... so some issue with the account?

Or is there any other setting to change?

Ah - I never got an order number AFAIK :/

Guess I need to hold for them, argh!

EDIT : ... I see that although the line gives dialtone, I can't even dial out. Incoming and toll free are alright though

You have to verify the account with Telkom with your order number https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/ADSLVERIFY_NEW/verifyRequest.do

I have never seen the point of that verify account thing, never have anyone told me to verify my adsl line after installation and I didn't even get a order number from telkom, the same with every person I know that got ADSL, I had to tell them to verify the line online and to phone telkom to get the order number when it is supposed to be their JOB. :mad:
 
It would be OK if they answered ... But I know I'm pretty much going to take days to reach them. Excited at first, but its worn off very fast
 
Days? Shouldn't. Usually around 30-40 minutes. If you lucky you can choose the call back option.
 
Days because I keep getting interrupted by other things - but in this case I reached her in 26 minutes

She said its already active on her side - everything is fine. And put me through to ADSL side ... *sigh*
 
I got through to Faults and he said everything was activated, but gave me the order # anyhow - and after entering on that site it says Your ADSL Service request has already been processed

However, he said the order is incomplete which he feels is the problem ... and that department is only open tomorrow. In other words, nothing can be done tonight.
 
To update :

Phoned them and the lady told me that new lines have a block on the line - which she removed.

Waited patiently to get home and see if it worked and ... GREEN light! Picked up the iPad and it worked.

Popped out for a few hours and GREEN light! Decided to move it to its permanent position and switched it off ... Moved ... On again ... RED light

Can't do anything - factory settings, retype username/password ... All dea

*sigh*
