New Afrihost TCs

Good Grief... well if they shaping 30-40GB users then i am also switching!!! Screw that...

Browsing and d/l'ing with MWEB as we speak anyway!

On 384 it's worse. Only done 20.5GB this month and I am being shaped heavily to 8KB/s average even after hours on Sundays, so I'm looking around for alternatives. I think Afrihost is going to lose a whole lot more than their "7%".

My theory is eventually everyone will be in this "7%". The initial 7% leave and thus the bar sets lower and people who were previously less throttled get more throttled and become the new 7%, they leave and so forth.

Needless to say this whole plan of afrihost is so immensely flawed, it's almost the opposite of mweb's rather logical plan of "We need more capacity? We'll buy more." where as Afrihost says "We need more capacity? We'll get rid of some of our paying customers!"

They said they throttled by the hours but that cake is a lie.
Client closed all weekend - open today cant send and receive email / browse.
They are signing up with MWEB right now.
Only a few more to move!
And a few web sites as well whoo hoo.

Just got throttled/Shapped at 51gigs(4mb uncapped). Tried phoning afrihost to find out what was going on and after asking some pritty logical questions they hung up on me twice :/

Are you on 384K or one of the higher speeds?

I beg to differ, basjohn. I, for instance, try my utmost to get as much as I can with my given daily schedule and can only manage about 20GB/month at a consistent full speed (40KB/s).
I think, after they shave off all the 7%'ers, there will be a lot of happy 384Kers, downing 24/7/31/365 @ full speed. ;)

I wouldnt hold my breath. 384K'ers are also heavily throttled from 20gb onwards. At 40gb you can just as well switch to a backup ISP as the service is useless.

Nightly downloads of games bought on Steam can easily clock 1.2gb for the night, so its pretty easy to do 40gb, even 50gb per month on a 386K line.

"we would not be looking at throttling you!"

Well, you, Mr Gian, are a liar!

Di you send them your speedtest?

still terrible speeds

well my slow speeds continue. I'm on a 384k uncapped, and have downloaded 52gb this month. I've been throttled bad since the 22nd June; - .06mbits/s

I'm going with another IS uncapped ISP next month, just hope their service is better. I'm trying to stay away from Mweb as long as possible, it just feels wrong to turn to them.
:p

+1

I don't wanna go Mweb either....but ja only time will tell ;)

Sorry guys but if you are avoiding mweb you are losing out... only wazzup seems to be beating them for 384k but for 4 meg... they are definitely the best.

Mnnn your right.... well next month is my last month with Afrihost, so I'll have to decide where to go next.

to me

Thanks for the mail, the congestion has been sorted out and the speed that you are currently getting should remain constant until the 1st of next month when at that point the total amount of gigs that you have moved will then be wiped clean.

OMG, I just switched over to Mweb and am downloading my Steam games at full-speed. At peak time, 2pm in the Afternoon.

I didnt even know that was possible.

I would just like to point out another thing that everyone seems to be missing here.

Please note that our Uncapped ADSL terms of service
and the way we manage these packages will be changing
from the 1st of July.

As far as I can tell today is the 29th of June and not the 1st of July. Afrihost is a bunch of liars across the board and i will not be doing any further business with them as well.
