New Amazon Kindle Fires launched

Muy impressivo! That 8.9" 1920x1200 is delectable. Any word on the confirmed resolution of the 7" HD?

Great hardware to buy with the idea of installing stock android.

The 8.9" one's big selling point is the LTE modem with MIMO and 250mb for $50/year. It's still a great tablet without that but you lose a great deal of value.

The $499 version just seems overpriced to me when you consider the limitations of Amazon's software. For that money i'd rather just get a Retina Ipad, with admittedly much less storage, but the ecosystem would make up for that.

I just realized the 16gb wifi 8.9 is $229. Now THAT is a good price.

That one is USD299. I see that there is a 32GB version as well, but they don't give a price.

32GB is essential in SA where wifi cover is poor and 3G expensive.

But yes, this model looks attractive.

Will be interesting to see what price the Ipad mini comes in at. Because if its not a lot less than $299 i don't really see why you would choose it over the Fire 8.9 with its higher than HD display. For me display is everything at this point.

Apple's pixel doubling is really putting them at a disadvantage when it comes to sticking with the competition res wise on odd screen sizes.

Well I'm not sure. I still think at $500 the iPad3 is the best value tablet around and it's yet to be taken head on by anyone. iPad Mini, rumoured 1024 screen... yeah I'm a bit meh about that too. Not sure what value that resolution screen has anymore since even the 7" $200 nexus 7 has a 1280 screen.

Yeah, i'm talking sub $300 tablets. Once you get close to $500 the ipad 3 is by far the best choice.
