New AVG v8 chomps bandwidth

I'm still very happy with AVG 8 Internet Security....

1. like it that you can have different profiles for the firewall when at home and work
2. anti-spam filter is very good
3. scanner is not too heavy on the system, but you need a core2duo & 2 GIG RAM with Vista
4. detection is good
5. updates are quick & quiet
6. I bought it online for R420

avg is very good,i have avg8 internet security version.Its pretty good and its not just install and off you go.In order to fix it like avg7 you must go into advanced settings and tune it there.
Disable all internet stuff like the link scanner ..etc.
After spending 10 minutes there you wont be sorry

Chuck it away and install Avast 4. Works beautifuly!

AVG is a load of cr@p to be honest.

I too find it humorous when I hear/read comments such as these and then I pop off to find some independent research and I find results like this...

And I really do not have to think twice about who I believe... AVG is right up there every time AND IT IS FREE!!!

AVG8 is not all bad. I had it, uninstalled it, Used avast for about a month, dumped that and went back to AVG.

You just have to tweak it a little. My performance difference was negligible(between 7 and 8).

I was told by my IT guys that as of Friday the 25th July AVG is no longer free and you will not get any more new updates. Just old ones will download.

In the past I never had a problem with AVG used it for years.

Support for AVG 7.5 Free Edition is planned to end on 31st August 2008.

No more virus updates are planned for after that date.

Note that no more 'program' updates are due! Only virus updates will continue until the end date.

AVG 7.5 Paid version will be supported until 31/12/08.

There is no problem with Ver 8.

Nod32 corporate edition ftw...!
updates like 4/5 times a day and uses minimal bandwidth..

I say and will repeat it, move to Nod32 - nothing compares.
