New broadband rules won't help pricing

"There is nothing in the regulations that Telkom does not do already,"

One would assume the regulations are built around Telkom's motive. As for two years late it is meaningless now as the rules towards the customer remains unchanged, despicable, these people are useless.

"The regulations do, however, demand that Telkom, SNO Telecom and service providers enter into agreements with subscribers to deal with complaints, resolve disputes and agree on turnaround time in dealing with repairs."

Yes well, if you cry too much they will simply turn around and say best effort service. The first consultant that pulled that crap on me never made an attempt again, but others are much more agreeable.

"The lifting of caps - restrictions on how much users can download - is a good move as the growth in bandwidth makes such limitations redundant."

Remains to be seen, but we can hope.

So the regulations addressed this? i read the other articles but didnt c this before. Do the regulations address the cappin issue? Soz if this has been addressed already. :P

Woohooooooo! NOT! Please get your facts straight.

they bed fellows with telkom

Mr. Reed, please get your facts rights.
Also, kindly get off your bum and do something about it.
You can approach ISPA, the government, the competition board, Icasa and apply pressure. Plus you'll have the support of MYADSL Forum.

Stop talking and start doing.

He wont have my support, they are a bunch of Telkom wannabees, their call centre is worse than Telkoms (from my admittedly anecdotal experiences)...

Oops, sorry, I guess I missed the part where Telkom offered uncapped local accounts, dropped the double line rental charging and installed it within a month, Mr Reed. Are we even living in the same universe. The reason we are in this mess is clearly because we have incompetant people that doesn't even know what is going on in their own industry. If they knew then they would do something about it, but they clearly think we only pay R99.92pm for an adsl line with unlimited local bandwidth that gets installed within a month. It's really pathetic the people we have in the industry, but then it's no surprise from some people's sigs. ;) The whole lot should be fired and MyADSL could rule the broadband industry.
