Hi, I wanna build a budget PC for my sister, ESQUIRE have some specials.

I was thinking of getting:

ASUS P5QPL-AM - Intel G41 Chipset - Integrated Intel GMA4500 Graphics - Intel® Socket 775 Core™2 Quad/Core™2 Extreme/Core™2 Duo/Celeron® E1000 Series and 400 Series CPU - 2x DDR2 (Max 8GB 800MHZ) 4x SATA, 1x IDE, 1x PCI Express x16, 1x PCI Express x1, 2x Retail Box 3 year warranty 439.00

Inter E5500 2.8 Dual Core: R429
Samsung 1TB, 54RPM:R399
UniQue Midi Tower:R179
Samsung 2GB DDR3, 1333MHZ:R159
Sony DVDRW X24:R125

are those good prices (I can get hardware from ractron as well, but do't have their pricelist at the moment)?
Are the components compatible with each other?
Can the onboard graphics card handle MKV at 1080p (not very important ,but would be nice) ?

Thanks,
Bar1

well onboard 1080p if you using DVI it is possible with VGA but all depends on tv. I have 2 LCD's at home and the one with my onboard I can do 1080P and the other can only do 720P and they both full hi-def tv's

If you want to get decent onboard performance you have no choice but to get AMD. Intel on board gfx cards are just crap.

How would this compare with a cheap Sandybridge PC with an i3. The on-board graphics is far better, I believe. You also need a power supply and monitor. Have you considered 2nd hand for the box at least. I've seen some amazing deals on a C2quad allready up and running.

I assume that 1TB drive will be the boot drive as well? If so, then I recommend going for a 7200rpm drive...

Lastly, don't get a DDR2 board and then buy DDR3- RAM! :D

5400 will be fine for my sister, thought you were going to suggest SSD!
lol
