Hi guys

Does anybody have details about the new MyWireless capped services that will released soon?

Regards,

RPM

What I have been told is that they are about to launch an entire range of
new MW offerings, including "email only","capped" as well as an "entry level" service.
I heard prices as low as R299 being mentioned!!

I'd hate to see the performance on entry level, since their current entry level package is way below entry standards.

and the latest, 9600baud, for only R299

9600kbps would be more preferable, nuffing wrong with a 10 meg connection :)

They must really think we are stupid. The answer to increased competition according to SA companies: don't increase value for money, just offer something cheaper that's even worse than the current offering.

%%^&*^%#$%$%#$^#@#$%@@#$@$#@%$#!%@&%$$%^$$&^$%$ (A LOT of swearing)

whereas everywhere in the world ISP's offer FASTER access, in SA, they offer SLOWER (at a price even less worthy of the value they bring).

$%^^R^$$@#&^%*&^(&**&^*&^*(&^&%#^*&*%&)&(&^%$#$%^&*(*&^%$#$%^&*&^%$%^&*&^T%
(even more swearing)

Here's an idea: a 1Mbps national uncapped service with 512 Kbps international speed, that MAYBE has a cap (just b/c i'm being non completely unreasonable) If you can't guarantee this, what are you doing offering broadband?

anyway, just a bit gatvol tonight....

Entry level in SA SHOULD be something like 512k ADSL with maybe a 10GB cap for about R299 per month... tops.

But alas... I'm dreaming...

I can't find anything on the Sentech site or bulletin board about it. I'm keen to find out details! Wondering what they consider to be MORE competitive...

As far as I know, nothing has been made public or even pre-released at this stage.
So everything is still very speculative!
Despite the rumblings (above) there are other people in this country
(who don't live in Sandton :) ) and can't afford any of the current solutions on offer ....
yet would be very happy with a low bandwidth (I presume 64K), "always on" solution.
I think that it is this market that Sentech is also trying to provide a solution for.
There are also many SME businesses that have the need for only a simple
"always on" email facility for their staff. ADSL is not available everywhere,
and Diginet solutions are too costly for many SME companies.

despite the fact that there might be a need for a 'always on' email service, that doesn't mean that such a service under all circumstances would be a ripoff. Even a 64K permanent internet connection has no reason to exist in this time and age and there's no way you can make me believe that it's more profitable for sentech to offer a 64K line rather then a 128K one.

I reiterate my point that if their technology isn't geared towards offering even more users even better (faster) access, they have no reason to be in this business. Trying to sqeeze more users into a network by offering cheaper access at lower speeds will only result in bad publicity and will backfire in the long run.

Sentech lost me as an customer forever... In my opinion they are even worse than telkom...

MyWireless... you can keep it, I will stick with the copper based competition, at least there it's a case of "better the devil you know!"
