My car was stolen from my house last week, so I'm looking for a new car. I'm not much of a car guy and my Opel Corsa Lite 1.4 old 2007 model suited my needs just fine (it was pretty much at the end of its life and often needing a service).

I believe the most stolen cars are Toyota (all models) and the Polo Vivo so don't really want to get into a high risk car. A car is just not worth my life.

So I have a Budget of R100 000, I could go a little higher but just don't want to as its probably gonna cost me another R50 000 to upgrade my house security.

I have got a rental car from insurance the Datsun Go which is quiet honestly the worst car I have ever driven.

So I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive to service, ideally a 1.4l so I have a little bit of power, something that doesn't put me at high risk of theft, not a Datsun GO and can last me another 5-6 years without too many problems. I have no problem with second hand cars.

Any help would be appreciated because I'm probably gonna walk into a Dealership buy the biggest dud at an inflated price and I'm trying to avoid that.

Go and test drive I20 1.4 or 1.6 ,should do the job for you . Also have a 5 star euro NCAP safety rating!

Why not use the likes of autotrader to look at cars in your budget and with features you require\would like? It's really good, but when it comes to second hand cars, I would advise either use a big reputable company like Auto Pedigree and the likes, or do your homework.

Or use This, No VW or Toyota, limit to 100 000 and engine 1.4 and larger

Try some of the sites like auto trader and cars.co.za they have decent search engines and can also do some comparisons.

For R100k you'll get something decent.

Look at some of these.
Hyundai i20 and Kia Rio. (roughly the same size / spec)
Hyundai Grand i10 (slightly smaller body and engine) and Kia Picanto
Opel Corsa only recently upgraded, so the previous range (older than 2015) should be about right.
Chevrolet Sonic.
Ford Figo and Fiesta.

Another +1 for i20

You should also consider the Renault Sandero 0.9T
Quite a decent drive compared to it's competition and the little motor sips away on fuel.
