New Car Key's Corsa B

So end of last year my car key's were jacked out of my office drawer and just now same story with one of our supervisors.

Right so I want to get new key's made but so far as I know this is a complicated and expensive process.

Has anyone gone through it in the Alberton area and how much did it set you back?

many of these key coding places could probably help,

know its expensive, as it needs to be "taught" to the car to recognized it.

That's the worry yes, I'm not willing to pay 2 grand for this, I'll rather then add a custom security feature so the car cant be started unless you know what to do.

My guy in cpt only ask R500 to cut these electronic keys. The ones that he can crack, corsa can be done.

ok, let me throw you a curveball here,

my kia picanto (2010) has only 1 key that starts the car, but I have at least 2 other keys with different patterns that need to be coded onto my car.
how much will your guy do mine for?

Think R500 for anything that can be cracked atm, but he needs working key to cut another one. But he should be able to code the other keys, but don't think it will save you money.

If you pop it open there is nothing inside except for a small maybe 6x3x3mm piece of what feels like metal but yeah, got a immobilizer

Well my arms are long enough for me to function as central locking but no, el cheapo version.

I know there's a box thing that is wired close to the ignition barrel, how does that small thingy inside the key manage to do anything since it's not a normal circuit with a battery, inductive kind of thing perhaps?

yes, key chip, mine has that as well, all 3 are sold as one as they are "married" to each other.

Yeah I remember that just never figured it actually did anything.

Assuming it was just a weight so it doesn't feel like the cheap plastic key that it is.

Before you go nuts trying to find a cheap party do yourself a favour and just contact a dealership to ask what the legit official key costs.

I've been very surprised in the past that it wasn't nearly as crazy as one would think depending what car etc.

My BMW spare key (not the one with battery) which I assume would work similar to this chip key only as you need to hold it right against the transponder was something like R450 all said and done.

Bike key uses the same reverse transponder setup.
