"New" car suggestions - "SUV"

Hi all,

Looking for a "new car" to replace our ageing one.

Looking for something bigger than the picanto we currently have but not massively bigger, just a little extra space would be nice.

Car doesn't have to be new, happy to look second hand or demo but also very wary of buying someone else' problem and want something we can comfortably drive for the next 10 years potentially so it cant be a few years old already or have too much milage.

Current contenders are:
Hyundai venue 1.2 - bonus here is the current cash back which reduces the price significantly. Absolutely hate the interior colour though and you only get a completely dark option on the higher specs (it looks fantastic but the light coloured seats seem like a problem). R280K

The new toyota urban cruiser XS - looks like a really good deal if the hyundai didn't have the cashback option - lots of "extras" also like keyless entry as a standard and has a bigger 1.5L engine. Car seems bigger and roomier. Price difference makes one feel like stretching for the XR AT. R330k

The previous toyota urban cruiser XR - very much more comparable to the venue, some demo options available, like the shape and the fact that you essentially save 60k since it is the top of the range model - down side is it was a demo and its been replaced with the new version, seems slightly more spacious than the hyundai, build quality looks and feels good. R310k

Any thoughts on these options or other contenders?

T-Cross is overpriced for what it is.

Kia Sonet is worth a look for spec, build quality (relatively speaking) & value for money.

Mahindra XUV300 is an option for even more value.

Suzuki Brazzers (yes Brazzers), better value & more spec than the UC (always).

I would actually look at the CX-3, super reliable & punchy 2L atmo engine, just not povo spec, aim mid or top dog grade.

Lastly the Opel Mokka (Coffee), the last Gen. Will prolly be better built than all of the options + that 1.4T is nippy.

Yeah looked at the sonet also, it's not bad, bigger engine than the venue for a simialrish price plus the base model lets you have the split colour code if you into it. It's a contender possibly.

Looked briefly at the Mahindra/Havel type cars, I just have no trust and while you seem to get a lot of car for the money I just feel like you could spend marginally more with maybe lose out of one or two features but have a much more solid car. The second hand market is flooded with models 2-3 years old and I know of several people who have had engine issues with the Mahindra xuv300

Looked at the Suzuki's, the Brezza has just been discontinued now but there are options available as demo and second hand obviously, doesn't seem terrible but I would probably take a new venue over it. The grand Vitara 3 seems like really good value for money but just feels a bit plasticy - I assume there is a link between the suzukis and the toyotas because both new and last gen option seem like the same platform just with a different build quality

I really like the Mazda cx3/5 but they pricey

I have an XC60 but i wanna change it simply because i'm single and its quite big though i wanted the 235KW. But i've test-driven the XC40 and its still great and costs much less.
 
Urban cruiser or Grand Vitara, steer clear. They are so underpowered its a terrible driving experience.

I don't know why they doing that, that Grand Vitara looks amazing, spec well and probably capable on the odd offroad and then they stick a lawnmower engine in it? wth.

The GV is amazing bar the sewing machine performance.

will go test drive to see, coming from a picanto performance isn't exactly the top priority as long as it has a little go to it. I am a big fan of economy so if the smaller engine acheives that without negatively affecting fuel economy or getting a-z its ok for me

not bad not bad, will take a look, not a huge renault fan but they are kind of in the ball park

I think if you can handle lack of vooma then the GV is a no brainer. It has everything and the interior feels lush, not that plastic feel at all. Good luck.
