New car timelines (Kia Rio)

I'm hoping someone with experience or the knowledge can enlighten me...

I'm in the process of buying a new Kia Rio through Standard Bank's Vehicle Purchasing Unit. I'm already getting a nice discount and staff interest rates so I'm not looking to change my angle of attack on this.
There was no stock of the specific colour (graphite) and type I wanted so the dealership placed an order and it arrived with the latest batch of shipments this past Sunday. They have since confirmed that it was on their system, but yet to arrive at the dealership in Germiston.
I want to have a idea of how long it will now take to get into my possession, assuming that it gets onto a truck and arrives in Johannesburg this week (Is it reasonable to assume that it will be transported from Durban to JHB by the end of this week?). What does the timeline look like if they're also handling licensing and registration?
 
I have to admit, it is tempting, but the reality is that I've been waiting a long time already and I'm in a situation where needing a car is becoming more and more pressing for me and work. Even if they announce that we'll get it in the next few months, the price of a 1.6 will be more than than what i'm prepared to pay. I've reached my ceiling with the 1.4 tech auto and accessories.
Besides, I care more about the features and tech than the engine and its performance.
I'll trade up in a couple years but for now i'm happy with my choice.
 
The 1.4 Rio's power is shockingly bad. Maybe I just got a lemon of a car but I can't stand it. Hill + Aircon = Might as well be going backwards. I can't even imagine the 1.2.

Knowing what I know now I would wait for the T-GDi's

The RIO will be sold with the 1.0T-GDI and that will be replacing the outdated 1.4.
If there is a price increase, it won't be by much...
You'll be getting a much quicker and more fuel efficient car by waiting a bit longer.
 
Friends recently traded their Nissan Tiida 1.6 for a Rio 1.4 TEC.

They drove to Jeffreys Bay and back and he was ready to sell the 1.4 Rio.

Just not enough poke it seems.

How sure are you that we will get this? And this might not happen anytime in the immediate future? I thought they would introduce the Rio F/L and new i20 with the turbo engines but nope didn't happen. Would be awesome if we could get those turbo engines

Sales guy at Hyundai confirmed when I asked about it. If Hyundai will be getting it, Kia definitely will...
Just not sure when that will happen though.

Would definitely be awesome! the engines are the one thing stopping Hyundai and Kia from competing with VW, Renualt, Ford etc who have now all gone turbo.

I always quoted 5 working days after the car arrived with us - it could be less, but best to build in space for things that normally go wrong.

Thanks, so I'm probably looking at the end of April then, to be safe.

For the guys recommending I wait for the turbo engines...
Dates for those have not been confirmed, nor am I willing to wait a few more months. I'm fine with accepting the risk that the 1.4 tec may not be all that it is cracked up to be, but driving experience and tastes differ between people. I'm happy to accept the consequences if it turns out to be a bad decision, no stress there.

I do hope though that this is the first and last petrol car I ever buy...
 
Nothing wrong with the 1.4. It seems to be geared more towards fuel economy than power. The first 3/4 of the pedal doesn't do much to acceleration but pushing it all the way you really see its true performance. If it's not enough in all situations then use 95 octane. Think they put that in a few times by accident and it almost wanted to go too fast.
