Secondly, if you buy an Etios, you will have to hand in your man-card and your account will be blocked form posting in the Motoring section again. The Etios is a horrible, horrible POS and Toyota should be ashamed that they ever put their name on it.

Go with a second hand above entry level car with 100,000km on the clock that's just come out of ±5 year service plan.

If you have to go new, look at Kia Picanto, Hyundai i10 Grand, Renault Sandereo, VW up, Ford Figo or Suzuki Swift/Dzire 1.2 instead of Etios.
For Demo or low mileage used car and have a look at Kia Rio, Ford Fiesta, Honda Jazz or Suzuki Swift 1.4 instead. Styling preferences is up to you.

Buy the Aygo instead.
+1. All of those are miles ahead of an Etios and you can get them second hand at relatively low mileage for the same price as an Etios. Don't waste your money on an Etios.

+1 on avoiding the etios,
Shame they had to make such a bad call with it as its predesessor was excellent,
Wonder if Toyota sa will return to making their own version of the corolla like the Tazz was?
Anyway op, see my sig, another overlooked option for you, mybb hates it for no good reason, except that its ugly.
+1 on the Jazz if you can find a decent used one in your price range. Point of the matter is that your wife and kid is going to drive in this so your first priority should be safety. The etios is one horrible piece of indian made shyte. Jazz has the safety the space and the reliability.
