Hi guys, I'm due for an upgrade next month, what is the latest in cell phone trends? I believe Android is better than WM. Does Skype work on it and what about other software? I rather liked my Touch Dual (before it broke), but should I get another HTC?

I'd get an HTC Hero or Nokia N97 if you need a keyboard.
I'm saying this having had no experience with HTC, but I like android a lot.
Motorola is also releasing some android phones but I'm not sure when...

lol, I just wrote this in another thread.

In all honestly, I have used the latest Nokias, SE's, and I currently have a BlackBerry and nothing has even come close to the iPhone that I had. It is by far the most fun and useful phone I have ever used.

The iPhone 3GS is difficult to come by due to major stock limitations but the normal iPhone 3G compares very well, especially if you do not need to pay in.

I would definately recommend it.

Android is still on its first release, so could do with some work. Is great as is, but not the finished product yet. WM is due for an upgrade soon and nobody really knows what that'll be like (there are a couple of folks who have cooked roms, but there is no guarantee the official releases won't be considerably different). I love the HTC TouchFlo interface - makes WinMo very useable and touch friendly.

The Hero and Diamond 2 are virtually identical phones running on the different OSs. I'd strongly recommend either of these.

On the other hand if you want a business phone (not much play) then a BB is a good option. When looking at BB, watch out - most of the cheaper ones don't have 3G and do a search on the forum on BIS speeds.

iPhone is overrated.

You cut me deep...

I can assure anyone who has never had one that it is not overated. I currently have a BB and it really cant compare at all.

Just unlocking the iPhone is pure joy. I really miss mine...

LOL the iPhone is an over priced piece of crap. The only saving grace of the iPhone are the applications. The battery life is terrible, its very big and the "keypad" is useless for someone with large hands. And this is coming from someone who had an iPhone. If the iPhone was priced the same as the Nokia 5800 then I would pick the iPhone easily but its twice the price...

The Hero has a updated os Android 1.6 Donut coming out soon in about a month.

Balckberry is excellent if you use it on MTN.

I'll never use a Windows Mobile again. Had a few and everytime I say this is the last one. Well, the last one was my last one.

Nokia is great but they have to do something different for a change.

All depends on what you need in a phone. Don't go on what other people like, go with your needs.

I know it's a bit late, but thanks for the feedback. I am rather stoked with the Hero.

Have you ever owned a iPhone or are you just regurgitating what you have heard or read? I have had "smart phones" before but since I have my iPhone dude let me tell you. NOTHING compares. The whole jailbreak etc is so much fun.

I like to be challenged and the iPhone brings the GEEK out in me. The iTunes store is filled with great apps, Cydia is a goldmine of free useful apps not too mention Hacklous. So if you want just a phone go ahead get a run of the mill Nokia, SE or blackberry but if you want a phone that will move with you into the future get a iPhone:D

If you want a phone that's all about image get an iPhone. If you want a power phone - get the Diamond 2.
