Would like to know if any of the I-ECNS & I-ECS license holders can opperate a NEw cell network ? as i understand MTN, VODACOM CELL c hold the same license...

Yes they Can........................but they have to have the capital required to roll-out at least 2500 BTS which costs in the region of R3 Billion rand excluding monthly site rentals.

Prepaid & postpaid billing platform.

SMS & MMS billing platforms.

GPRS billing platforms.

they will need spectrum allocation from ICASA.

No spectrum is available in the 900mhz band ( all given to mtn & Vodacom )

International GSM SPectrum

15mhz of 1800mhz spectrum left only in the 1800mhz band

15mhz of spctrum left in the 2100mhz band. ( 3G )

So in others words ... If a new network had to come about, it would have to operate on 850MHz / 1800Mhz GSM and 900MHz / 2100MHz 3G?
