Gideon Khobane has been appointed as the new CEO for SuperSport with effect from 1 April 2016.

Gideon is currently the Director of M-Net General Entertainment Channels responsible for some of the most popular and exciting channels on DStv such as M-Net, M-Net Edge, M-Net City and M-Net Family. He has been with the MultiChoice Group since 2008. He has held roles as Head of Marketing and Publicity for M-Net Africa and Director for Research and Business Intelligence for M-Net South Africa.

During his time at M-Net, Gideon has driven a number of very successful projects for the MultiChoice Group: he launched the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, launched and rebranded the African Magic Channels, launched M-Net Family and M-Net City. He also helped to develop a number of key shows, including Tinsel, Idols East and Southern Africa, Star Gist, Big Brother Africa and most recently, The Voice SA.

“Gideon is a talented individual who has made a significant impact at M-Net. I have no doubt he will lead SuperSport to even further heights,” said Imtiaz Patel, CEO of Video Entertainment, Naspers.

Prior to joining M-Net, Gideon worked for a number of large South Africa companies.

Gideon holds several qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce Degree specializing in Marketing Management, a post-graduate diploma in Marketing Management and a Master of Management Degree from Wits Business School where he specialized in Strategic Marketing.

Brandon Foot will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer for SuperSport. He has been acting CEO for SuperSport for more than two years and has done a great job during this time. Together with Gideon, they will make a formidable team as they will complement each other.
