So who here drives one? Would you guys reccomend getting it? From what I heard they still have the same engine than the corsa utilities did. I'm thinking about getting one, preferable the 1.4, driving from pta to jhb and back everyday. Test driving one tommorow before I decide.

Would be nice to hear what the experts think first:)

Nice car but i would prefer Ford Bantam

I dont buy car new, i prefer buying demo models or low kms vehicles.

I learned my lesson with second hand cars, bought a 2008 Getz with 30 000km sometime ago and had endless problems, I know its not always the case, but I don't want to bump my head twice

Dad's got previous shape diesel, and I bought my sis a first gen 1.6 sport couple a years ago.
Both very happy. Very economical and reliable, and resale value seems better than either the Nissan or the
Bantam.
I do not hear good news from the Nissan, lots of quality issues with that Dacia built Nissan.

Like any small car they use cheap plastics, and built to a price point, but with so many on the roads, parts are cheap, and available.

I cannot think of a better option.

I like them, a friend of mine has one. he picked up a 1.8 base with ac for 140k brand new. Quick little bugger with a nice interior and it is rather comfortable.

Have had the 1.4 for a few months. Done 13000km

1. Quite heavy on fuel for such a small engine. 8.7L/100km
2. Slow for a 1.4
3. 4000 rpm at 120kmh indicated. Noise!
4. Sticky gearbox but it gets better with time.

Very happy with it though. Its a huge upgrade from my Mercedes. It starts every time no matter how much I abuse it.

where do you guys hear all these "issues" from?
I am quite an avid car enthusiast, and Its all hearsay.... so i call BS on 90% of the "issues" you've heard...

in the states these things are well documented..
here? its a case of oom's se bakkie this and that and therefore no one must ever buy a opel again!!! most of the times oom doesn't even know its got a 5th gear, or it takes diesel lol!

I've also got one and have that same experience, but I expected all of those things, so it doesn't bother me at all.
It is a 1400 after all, my 1300 Tazz from years ago was similar.

Mine has 22 000 km, have driven it in 7 of the 9 provinces and enjoyed the drive.
Build quality is very good.

My gf drives this car 90% of the time and she loves it.
Handy for shopping and taking the dogs for their vet trips etc.

If you're on the long road the ideal speed to drive is 110 km/h.
If you want to drive 140 km/h for long periods then this is not the car for you.

For the money you pay, there isn't much better on the road.
I bought buy brand new as 2nd hand won't cost much less and you can choose the colour, extras etc...
