New Chromecast Ultra based on Android TV with remote!

Google confirmed to Android Police that while there is no Ethernet jack on the power brick for the Chromecast with Google TV, the company will sell a separate power adapter with an Ethernet port — similar to what comes in the box with the current Chromecast Ultra. The plug will be available for pre-order on the Google Store starting today.

So who will be selling these locally?

And will DSTV be available on it soon, or are the fast asleep as usual?

There will be grey imports I’m sure. I’ve ordered from the google store anyway, have already preferred these devices over the android tv types

If it's officially available in SA it's going to retail at R1,100, so expect grey imports you are looking a R1,500 which is roughly the cost of the Netflix supported boxes.

It is a Android TV type, just has a Google skin on top. Android TV 10.

Want one as well, to replace the Telkom LIT TV box that Step-Son "borrowed", and which I am not expecting to get back anytime soon. :)

The official adaptor that has Ethernet is only 10/100 so most people will probably opt for 3rd party USB C hubs.

Looks like a nice replacement for the Mi box. Just have to wait until it becomes more widely available so it easier to buy.

Want to buy one, to replace the Telkom LIT TV box, that has gone walk about with my Step-Son. :)

The new Chromecast looks cool. I don't have a use for it myself but I would get it if I did.

I am going to get one because Step-Son, borrowed my Telkom LIT TV box, and I know that I am not getting it back soon. Besides, it is a all Google build, hopefully has fewer issues than the Chinese Google Certified boxes, which always seem to have a niggles, here and there. But I will not bet on that either.

Plenty of Chromecasts had hardware issues like overheating. I guess they will have ironed it out by now though. This model has everything you could really want - 4K/60hz, HDR, and a decent remote

Like I said, I am hopeful, but not going to bet money on it being so.

That’s why I have Apple TV’s in my house

Nice hardware, crap software ecosystem - Crapple straight jacket and all. Also no need to be in an asylum.

Otherwise I might have one - besides them being highly over priced.
