Hey...

Im going to be upgrading certain components of my machine, hoping you guys can tell me if its decent, or if I am able to get something better somewhere else. Even better value for money.. any advise, thanks :)
This is pretty much the budget limit.

Here they are:

Intel Box E6550 Core2 Duo 2.33GHz CPU-775 : R1 669

Kingmax 4GB DDR2-800 Special (4x1GB) Dual Channeled - R1099

Gainward Bliss 8600GT 256MB DDR3 (DVI+TV+DVI) : PCI-Express 16x - R1322

Gigabyte GA-P35-S3 Motherboard (GA-P35-S3) - R1353

Total: R5443

hmm, what about getting 2GB DDR2 1066 for R899 instead? Then later get another 2GB.. Would the speed difference from 800 - 1066 make a dif in the future really?

if you plan on gaming at more than 10 fps in dx 10 i dont suggest 8600 cards

any of them

try put lil more for 8800gt

I think I may keep the 7600GT for a little while longer until there are decent budget DX10 cards

There won't be any more decent budget cards than the 8800GT 256MB or HD3850 for a while. Get one of those cards, and you're probably on a 32-bit OS so rather go for the 2Gb pack from buycomputers, save R500. DDR1066 will be basically no different.

Then you've got R1850 for a card, should be +-R200 short of one of those new 256MB cards, a much better choice.

They will both be out before the end of this month (in SA too hopefuly.)

There aren't any in SA yet that I've seen, but I'd estimate it to be around R2000 (possibly less) once they get here.
EDIT: Might be more as they arrive and with certain models, but you should be able to get one for at least R2000 after a while.

Might as well wait for the new ATI cards as well then.
