I just got a new pc a few hours ago, Intel E8400 3.00Ghz, 2 Gigs transend jet ram, 500 Gig, Ecs G31 Mobo

The problem is when i try to shut down, it freezes when it says windows is now shutting down.

Its a freaken new computer!!

Any help would be highly appriciated before I sent the pc back,

Thanx Guys

If its a full pc from a shop and has there warranty send it back!

Take it back!

No new PC should be doing that. It's the shop's responsibility to sort it out for you.

Do not open the PC - just take it back.

Nope. Then the PC shop won't be responsible. Unless its a hardware issue of course. Name of shop? Know its not us -Gigazone. ECS motherboards make me shudder

Let me guess Pc Zone ?

That has to be one of the cheapest MOBO's EVER! G31 with ICH7

Had a look at that board..Has cheap written all over it..

Well back to the problem at hand...Yep take it back.

Maybe another fresh install with the latest drivers available on the manufactures sites...

Yip, fresh install...

Hey Nishalin, I thought it was a Gigabyte board? :(

C'mon, don't diss the G31 + ICH7! It's not that bad... *strokes Gigabyte G31M-S2L* :D

+100 Don't diss it, nothing wrong with G31 + ICH7... *strokes Intel G31 + ICH7 mobo* :p

Diss the ECS or whatever make if you have to

Could it be a problem with the windows service pack? currently using service pack 2

I know you already did a fresh install, but here's my bit. Do another fresh install, but do not load any drivers. See if it still freezes with no drivers loaded, if it does not freez, load one driver at a time and test. If it still freezes without any drivers loaded, do a bois update, might be that the CPU is to new for the bios.
