New Computer

tip:

Option A:
Buy a R25,000 PC - lasts 2 years, max.

Option B:
Buy a R15,000 PC, and upgrade when needed (Eg: Sell the 3dcard, get a new one)

Second option will last you longer. and you will end up with a better system & newer tech. (Hard drives will be cheaper, bigger; 3d cards will be 4X as strong, etc...)

Didn't we argue about this not so long ago and you were otherside of the fence? :p

BTW when is your 2nd 4870x2 arriving? :D

ok ok - i know - it's just the hype man, it gets to me! :D

but yeah - i might still, might not, depending on cashflow and how ATI's drivers are looking by the time I have the dough.

But i'm kinda moving to your side - they're giving birth to new 3d Cards like a $6 hooka.

Next line of Intel CPU's will actually be the i5 which runs on a different socket... The budget line...

Intel wants more money so they doing 2 lines on 2 different sockets... Kind of like Celerons but now you even need another socket/mobo for them :P

^Agreed^

Last year Nvidia and Ati have broken records in releasing new cards on the market. Who knows whats in store for us this year?

Besides, do the number of frames really matter that much once your games are running past the point where your eyes can't notice any significant difference?

that sucks - are you serious?

i'm sick of so many different chipsets/etc, cause it causes incompatibilities, and upgrade issues.

lol.. but I am sure i7 will continue and our rich friends like 11masoodt will be there to keep funding Intel for more research :D

I've been wondering about that too. Anyhow you can run certain BOINC projects on the latest Nvidia cards. Since I am not a gamer my card was sitting mostly idle, so I am quite happy its being used to its full capacity. Not that it is entirely bug free, but its getting there.
