I won't get into an argument to try to justify our price structuring, as the intention of this thread was only to let the community know that although we had posted our November prices, due to the demand for a service not included in our packages, we have introduced this new account.
It was done in the interests of ADSL users, trying to accomodate demands where possible.

I don't know where the likes of "fragtion" come from, but in the interests of the Internet community in SA, we should endeavour to keep looking forward and try to overcome the barriers strewn ahead of us.

By now I'm sure we all know what everyone thinks of Telkom, but the situation is becomeing like a witch hunt during the inquisition! Please...give us a break!!!

Telkom witchhunt with reason you should add Marko. Just ignore the price bashers, they are green. I just queried the service but had it by the balls it seems. Yours works different as Pedantic stated and I think I have use for it. I thanked SAOL for the explanation and mentioned I have a account and are happy with the service.

... so if you pay for one of them R599 for 10gig, 27gig local jobbies.. WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU DOWNLOAD LOCALLY besides email? Most Local websites hosts content overseas so most of those co.za sites WON'T load correctly, or AT ALL! (get capped and try www.iol.co.za)

So if you're capped you're screwed eitherway. So why not just pay SAOL the R349, manage your usage because its definately cheaper than R599!, and i for one will much rather Cough up a second R349 for the month than R599 to get an extra 10Gig

(for the brainless & bitchy - yes we should'nt have to do this as there should be no CAP - but this is South Africa, and until we can win this Telecoms war... Use & Spend Wisely online!) (and yes USE ALL OF THE 10 GIGS! - i don't mind being capped the last 2 or 3 days of the month)

Local is for the local p2p hubs by the way... lots of content on their, like 27tb or something, ok probably less after 1 Nov but still. And local gaming servers of course, and MyADSL etc. Lots to do with local cap, but not worth getting capped because you need international.

I presume all local content servers will now either limit or cancel alltogether due to the costs it will impose on them. Loal content at International rates!. Only TELKOM can be so inconsiderate and Stupid at the same time. But then if you are out to defraud revenue from the nation and deny information to the disadvantaged then anything goes as TELKOM has proved lately.

A quick question - SAOL said they charge more for 10gigs with 2 concurrent logins because of contention. I assume they mean "amount of gigs" contention, because bandwidth contention does not make sense.

What happens if two people have 192k ? That is less bandwidth contention than 1 512k user.
