Two rookie police constables started their careers on high note when they spotted a stolen car driving past them on the N7 north of Cape Town.
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Andre Traut said the new constables were part of an operation to boost police visibility when a vehicle driving towards Moreesburg roused their suspicions.
It fitted the description of a car used in a house robbery in Bothasig, north of Cape Town on Wednesday.
The four occupants did not stop, and a high speed chase started.The men lost control of the stolen VW Polo and crashed on the side of the road.
The suspects, from the Congo and Zimbabwe, were arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and would appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday, Traut said.
A crowbar was also found in the vehicle, so they would also be charged for possession of a "housebreaking implement".
