Good day

I am thinking of getting a new CPU Cooler...

What I have in mind is the:

CM Hyper 212 EVO R350-00

Or the

DeepCool Ice wind R280-00

OR

open to any other suggestions :D

Thank you

Another question that I would like to ask the pros out there..

Is it advisable to change the CPU fan that comes with the heat sink? EG: CM hyper 212 comes with a 120mm fan... If I were to change it to another CM fan 120mm.. But has blue lights.. Does it matter?

Thanks again

I'd stick with the stock fan that comes with the CM Hyper 212 Evo, unless you REALLY want to have a shiny PC :)

The Coolermaster SickleFlow coloured fans ones are pretty noisy and they don't push through nearly as much air as their specifications say! Have 2 of these blue SickleFlow fans on my ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme cooler and they work pretty well together, but I'd probably be better off with ThermalRight X-Silent 120mm fans in terms of temperatures and noise.

CM Hyper 212 is a really good little after market cooler!

Mm.. But do you know anything about deepcool?

I was thinking of going for CM, cause they more well known? But yeah.. well I trust CM.. but not sure about DC... Just want some opinions

THANKS :D

Oh.. I see.. well I mean doesn't have to be CM.. can be like better ones.. I was just making an example..

So it.. doesn't really affect it?

Shiny PC is good :D I like it :)

Thanks :D

Here's how my PC looks with those SickleFlow (120mm 2000 RPM Blue LED) fans:

Running an aftermarket cooler on an i3 is overkill, unless you want to push it to 6GHz like they did with the Celerons :p

your dealing with an i3 cpu, why on earth would you want an after market cooler???

oh, btw, you mentioned it's a normal i3, so not even a k series? that means by design you only need a stock cooler since you cant overclock anyway

Do you get an i3 k series?! I only know of the i5 & i7 that you can overclock, unless you're talking about the 1st gen i3's (eg. i3 540).

no, the i3 does not have an unlocked multiplier (K), I should not have said "normal i3", my bad

Ummmm *whisper: i3's are stuck at the clock speeds they're sold for*

Mm.. Just a normal i3 O.o

Nothing special... yet :P

Well you don't need an aftermarket cooler right now, those chips run very cool. What case do you have?

but won't cooler = faster?

Nope. In your case with a non-K CPU, better cooling would probably extend the life of your chip a little and get air flowing through your case better. I won't help with speed at all. It might prevent the chip from ever reaching its thermal limit, but even the Intel stock fans do that.

If you're sticking with the i3 but still want a little sumthin' sumthin' for it, the Hyper 212 Evo is your best starting point. If you want a fan to go with that with some LEDs, look for one that is PWM-regulated (four pins), as you don't want the constant drone of a loud, flashy fan all the time.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind...
