Dude, we're in 2012 :P I don't think many people remember Nehalem/Westmere chips that well anymore (Intel was really kicking ass back then). They were beasts and I wouldn't mind owning one myself. That chip was the first sign that things would never be the same again and efficiency would always be Intel's crowning glory.

No, I mean the i3-530 was particularly special because it was a cut-down chip that could beat an i5 for speed, overclockability and efficiency (not to mention, most of AMD's lineup too, and it only cost $120 - same price as an A10-5800K). What Intel had done was pull another Celeron 300A/E1600 out of their hat, the i3-530 caused a massive upset in the market for AMD in the mid-range.

lol I have a friend that bought him a Corsair h100 but running a i7-2600 (non k) CPU. I just laugh. just download core temp and give us your temps plz

My brother has an i5 3570k, gtx 670 OC,Sabertooth MB and H100. Sounds like a Kempton Park Citi Golf lol! H60 in my PC is great though, and silent.

@ OP.I3? Skip the cooler if you not upgrading soon.
 
I also have a H100... with 4 fans in push-pull. Dead quiet afer the startup rev, running at fan speed 2. What's cool about it (pun intended :) ) is that temps stay between 28 & 32, even under heavy load. With the recent high ambient temps, it definitely does it's job well.

Tsek that's Brakpan! Not kpax! :p


You really should only start worrying if under load, your chip is hitting like 80C. Then i'd recommend you get an aftermarket cooler.
Really nothing to worry about if your running in the 50's.

Obiously there are other reasons to get good cooling. Just to drop the temps even more so you can OC even more! And of course looks and quietness. :)

Was just about to mention noise. Especially if you're using it as a htpc. In fact, this was the sole reason why I added an aftermarket cooler to my htpc (Q8300) and slightly under-clocked it, so I can run the CPU fan REALLY slow and quiet.

Yeah, ok.. mm.. 50 =no worries.. but the thing is that.. I only added like: 300Mhz...

If I want to OC it to like 4ghz.. then its going to over heat :( won't it?
