New daily paper makes debut

Just paged through it. It looks very nice, likea smaller version of the Sunday Times. I was a little disappointed at the lack of opinion, unless I missed that page. Raenette Taljaard writes for them, which is interestnig. Couldn't see any Justice Malala, though he's supposed to be there. Lots of "Digital Life" and links to their website. David Shapiro in the finance section.
But like the article said, the most important thing about this paper is that from the launch they have 120 000 subscribers. Unlike This Day or Nova, other recent attempts at new dailies, advertisers know what they're getting.
If I was The Star I would be nervous.

I like the website... it is easy to navigate and not too much eye-candy. i think i will add the RSS feeds to my google reader.

Yes, it was a fun read. Very much like a mini Sunday Times, sort of reminiscent of the Christmas tabloid format they published in the past. I also like the website.
Is the new paper free with any Sunday Times subscription?

Yes as far as I know. However, I am not too sure which areas they cover, ie main centres only or not.

But I think it is the only way to get the paper, at least for the time being.
I think they're only looking at distribution a bit later. Although surely, if they can manage to get their 5kg Sunday edition to every part of the country, the infrastructure to distribute a daily paper is half there.

you can't buy a copy anywhere
Its only free to ST subscribers and will get to all ST subscribers in major centers, there are still a few small logistical problems in smaller areas but in time all will be resolved.
There is one very good blog in their stable, the SEO and Web2.0 blog
