Hi Guys does anybody know when the release date for the new WOW Expansion has been set if there is one?

There's no release date set as yet ;)

Although it was touted for a February release date at one stage

Yeah Blizz are not pushing to release by a certain time which is better IMO. They're making sure it's done properly and not rushed out.

2.4 is coming with Sunwell so the Raiders will have something new to keep them busy till WOTLK.

Level 80
Arthas
Tirion Fordring
Deathknight Heroic Class
New things to hit in the face

Whats not to look forward too?

Personaly i dont look forward to leveling up again, i would prefer them to just add new content but keep 70 as the level cap, Ive spent countless hours grinding/raiding to gear up my toon and gain all sorts of reps with factions etc. now with new expansion all my hard work is gonna be all for nothing.

It's just one of those things. I quite enjoy leveling post-Azeroth and I'm sure we'll see even more improvements to how leveling works in WOTLK.
Thats not even taking into account the new Spells and Talents we'll be trying to unlock.
IMO Raiding shouldn't be about the gear. If you focus too much on the gear you can easily become a loot whore by accident.
I find my enjoyment from Raiding is in downing new bosses and the joy of a synergistic raid. Gear is just a means to an end.

Grinding

I like doing the instances but if there is 1 thing I cant stand is doing damn quests it is in my personal opnion a total waste of time and the time it takes to complete quests it just gets so boring.

Quests can be boring...especially the ones where you need to kill mobs to connect drops. And it's worse when the drop rate sucks.

Some quests are fun though. And using www.thottbot.com on the ones that are boring just to get them done as quickly as possible helps with leveling faster :)

I'm not really looking forward to the leveling as I'm still leveling my lvl 65 Mage (main char) so adding 10 more will be a pain. Should be 70 before the new expansion is released though.

I have a lvl 61 Warrior but damn lvling from 60 onwards is a bitch XP is so damn high and doing quests doenst give u enough XP really

Sheesh when I get to Outland my XP/hr sky rockets. 10K quest hand-ins and 1K+ per mob with rested XP means getting 58-70 is pretty quick.

I have to agree with TheShotgun...it feels like just a few days ago I was lvl 58 :p...now lvl 65 and going strong...lvl about twice a week.

Still a lot of work.

yeah .. hate the leveling part my lock has been stuck at 65 for about 4 weeks now :( just get sooooooo damn bored, then get going and a high lvl ally nukes the crap outa me and thats me done with the lvling again, so to answer the question, not sure how i feel about the expansion.

I kinda had the same problem with my Rogue. I'd played her extensively pre-BC and I leveld her once in Outland and then just ignored her to focus on my Shaman.
No she's 70 and abandoned for my Priest who will hit 70 tonight.
Sometimes you need to change chars and level something different to rekindle your love for your previous character.
I had a Warrior from when i first started who I got to 35 for Alchemy but never played. I restarted her and came to love MS.

And so it is that the suits at Blizzard keep duping 9 million odd people into forking out $14.00 month.

Its not that im loot orientated or anything like that, im just the type of player that tries to get the best, ive spent endless hours grinding for gold, materials and all sorts of things, now they bring out another expansion within a year and all those hours played become worthless, wats the point of doing it all over again when within another year you will have to start all over again when they come up with some new twist to the story.?

Proffessions totaly got screwed in TBC, You need to learn a proffesion to be able to use most of the crafted items, most of the recipes can only drop for ppl with those proffessions, so basicly the only way to make money is grind your life away.

repair bills and reputations are so badly desighned, i mean wat is the point of working your way up to the top when things dont get any easier, SSC/TK give zero rep, so basicly you are forced to run lowbie dungeons until you puke to gain the reputation, but they convieniently place a Repair NPC outside SSC that requires Exhaulted. Repair bills are rediculously high, and it gets worse the better your gear is, but completeing a full raid you earn maybe 10g if you lucky!?!?. The harder you work the easier things should become, but in wow its the opposite way around.

Because of all this i am not so sure if i will play the expansion, more than likely try it out but if i think blizz desighned it to keep me there like a little work horse then i will find something else to keep me busy.

look, the original wow (pre TBC) was the shiz, i totally agree with you that TBC was not my cup of tea.

1. endless rep grind ( too many factions)
2. free epix
3. no more 40 man raids
4. old azeroth a wasteland
5. unbalanced raids ( 25 man raids???)
6. unbalanced classes ( pallas and locks)
7. Obsoleet classes ( shamans and priests)

and many more!

my biggest complaint is the fact that TBC is sooo much class orientated compared to the old azeroth. Every class needs to have a CC in order to do any instance now.

someone once said to me that theres nothing i can do, Its a MMORPG, so the content will always change and it will keep changing in order to keep up with customer demands.

I look at TBC and hope that next expansion will be better, ill put TBC behind me and look forward to WOTLK and pray that blizz find that fine balance they had for the old azeroth.

I agree with a few things mentioned above. Blizzard have made professions a real mission to complete, and I've found out the hard way that most of the professions have very few perks I also agree with the 'too many factions' theory. I've gotten to almost revered with the factions I want to be with, but I've become so mentally bored of getting the rep, that I'll do anything but grind for more rep.

I don't agree with obsolete classes comment. Shamans are the flavour of the month. They have some awesome abilities, great dps (with the correct talents), and are probably one of the best healers in the game. My guild's healing team for SSC & Hyjal comprises mainly of Shamans. For priests, they do seem to be a bit broken at the moment, but they are very much in high demand for Kara, as a dps class.

My main concern about the new expansion is what is going to happen to the flying mounts we've bought. Northrend is suppose to be in Azeroth, so they'll either allow characters to only use flying mounts in Northrend, or the entire Azeroth. PVP servers are going to become a nightmare if the latter happens!

northrend wont be in azeroth, its going to be a seperate island and yes u will be able to use your flying mount, youll be able to unlock your flying mount with a quest at 78-80.

I think you're mistakenly looking back at Azeroth with rose coloured glasses and here's why.

1. Remember Cenarion Expedition? Argent Dawn? Brood of Nozordormu? pre-BC also had a lot of rep grind and it was far more painful. All the Outland major Outland factions that you'd want Exalted with for Raiding have at least 1 Instance that you can repeat to get there.

2. PvP has always been a source of free Epics anyway. Just because crafting became useful doesn't mean free Epics. You still need to put in some dedication to get your profession high enough to make Epic items. IMO much better then pre-BC where from BWL onward all your crafted gear is rubbish. Sometimes even before.

3. Yeah I do kinda miss 40 man raids. But 25 man is still awesome.

4. Nein. Thats a common misconception. Old Azeroth is still very much alive and full of people leveling. I would kno, I just leveled 1-70 in the last few months.

5. What do you mean unbalanced?

6. There have always been issues with some classes being generally better at certain things and it will continue.

7. Shammies and Priests obsolete? Thats crazy talk. All 3 Shammy tree's are in hot demand with most guilds clamouring to try get at least 1 of each in every raid because they're so damn useful. Lolsmite Priests are ripping it up in Arena and Shadow or Holy Priests are still very much in demand for Raids.

I don't think every class needs CC. In certain instances it's definitely needed to get certain classes to provide CC but not every class needs it.
