New, faster Apple iPad expected next week

The new A15 dual cores are way faster than the A9 quad cores. Hopefully the iPad 3 uses one of those, it will bring it a lot closer to laptop/desktop class performance.

Something not right about that photo... where is the blue light on the thumb coming from?

I don't believe people buy tablets based on tech specs, but rather on how simply and responsively it works.
And while there will no doubt be iPad apps someday that will require a 4 core processor, I don't believe that day in anytime soon

Agreed. I still have the ipad 1 and don't see a compelling reason to upgrade to 3. Still suits my needs perfectly. My upgrade will probably be driven by app requirements - and as you rightly say, that won't be any time soon other than maybe a few hardcore games.

I'm not referring to my must-have-new-gadget-addiction-issue of course...that's a different story. :D

I don't know about that, I was using Pressreader on an iPad 1, and it is really laggy, way slower than my Xoom (same generation, but the Xoom is dual-core).

IMO, if you have an iPad 1, you should upgrade to an iPad 3. Of course, it also depends on your requirements.

The iPad 1 belongs to the GF, and she is dead set on an iPad 3. And that's just fine with me, she is the perfect iPad user, an ambitious media content devourer, but not very technically literate (although quite competent on computers). And doesn't mind iTunes, whereas for me that just kills Apple stone dead.

Same here - have an iPad 1, little sluggish but it does alright.

That iPad 3 screen though, once I see it I'm gonna be severely tempted.

Same. Half my family got iPad 2's over the last two months but, even having set them up and playing with them, I'm still okay with my first gen... That screen 'tho, eish!

I've still got my first gen one as well as a 2nd gen and for what I do the newer model blows it away. My iPad2 screen is cracked though so I am tempted to get the 3 when it comes out.

Maybe they will innovate the ability to Bluetooth a photo to other devices.

Ipods cannot do that??! LOL.

... there's a fair amount the iPad can't actually do.

Considering Bluetooth is a file transfer protocol, I also found it really strange that it can't do it :/

As for 4G - is that a joke?

With 20MB limits, constantly seeing 'Cannot do over 3G. Please link to a wifi network' and the inability to receive warning SMS's on data bundle, I think 4G is utterly pointless in an iPad.
