New features coming to the Microsoft Edge browser

Microsoft has revealed an updated roadmap for its Chromium-based Edge browser.

Users have reported several minor issues with the reworked browser and requested the addition of a number of features since its official release in mid-January.

The planned changes include a fix for the synchronisation and duplication of favourites, as well as deleted favourites reappearing.
 
They cannot deliver proper Win 10 updates, and now want to get snazzy with Edge, not good omens ...
 
The new Edge is already my favourite browser by far. It also looks the best on high-res displays thanks to the taller than normal padding between bookmarks. Rendering is perfect, smooth scrolling is great, bookmark sync to the ad-blocking mobile browser is awesome etc.

I haven't had issues with Windows 10 updates. Are you using a laptop? Always seems to be the folks with laptops having issues.

Yeah, since my box'es power supply took it everything inside it, a laptop is what I have :(

What's wrong with Microsoft?

Office 365 is incredible value. OneDrive is excellent and you get 1TB storage with 365. Windows 10 is pretty good. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the best thing since sliced bread. Microsoft Flight Simulator and Age of Empires 4 are both on the way and look epic. It was entirely pro-consumer of Microsoft to go Chromium with the desktop Edge browser, and ad blocking is baked into the mobile browser. The To Do app is totally free and even has collaboration features. Most of their hardware products are very good and their vision of folding phones looks so much more practical than what the rest are doing.

Microsoft can barely put a foot wrong these days. I really don't understand your resentment.

I beg to differ on the Onedrive client, Its just not the worst of a bad bunch. Sync rates are slow and consumes huge amounts of CPU to index document locally, instead of using the server to do it. How do I know this. I am sitting here migrating a client from Dropbox to Onedrive and I am contemplating suicide by SD-card to micro-SD adaptor.

Jokes aside, at least their Office online products are a lot beter now, so you dont really need the onedrive client, or local apps anymore for many users. And Game pass for PC is pretty nice.
 
I did work for MSRC (Microsoft Security Response Center) in Redmond building 23. I will never use Edge ever again except to maybe to download Firefox.

I would get in touch with Microsoft's business support because I've set up Office 365 E3 and Business Premium many times for clients and had no major issues. Their support has been phenomenal for me the few times I've had issues with configuring business products, with an impressive technical understanding of what they're providing support for.

That said, I don't think File Explorer was ever meant to sync rapidly. It just chugs along reliably at rates that aren't meant to impact the usability of other apps but without being annoyingly slow. And in any case, I have found that large files sync faster than smaller ones, so OneDrive for desktop isn't dumb as a brick. When it comes to syncing lots of stuff, it has to be via the web app to get full speed.

No, just the normal peanut gallery. Make all sorts of statements to hide their own inability to use and run Win 10. I have long abandoned all other browsers and use Edge exclusively

MSRC handles security bugs sent into Microsoft. This is across all product ranges. Most of my day was spent addressing bugs found in Edge. The problems were fundamental issues not simple little bugs and there were so many.

Then why are you avoiding the new Edge because of the old Edge?

No. I just stick with products that are better and serve my needs better. Microsoft don't know how to make a decent browser. This is pretty clear. I won't consider them for this reason. Even if they are pushing out a rebranded chromium browser they will do some stupid integration which puts the OS at risk.

Sounds like you're making the same mistake of judging the Microsoft of today on the Microsoft of years past.

For a browser that can't be decent, the new Edge is weirdly high quality.
