New firmware for DG834GT

Did the Update, All seems OK. Feels like the browsing is somewhat faster or rather more responsive?

PS. Definitely :D :D My N95 via DG834GT Wi-Fi router gateway suddenly works 100%. Before I could hardly browse a Nokia page as it always dropped out. I thought it was settings from my side and never bothered to sort the problem. Hope it stays that way! :D :D Can even Google

Hmm. I don't seem to be able to find any info on what that mod'd firmware is all about. Got any info/links? Screenshots or anything of that sort?

If you want to tweak your target SNR margin as described above you can also do this without using the UberGT firmware as described below. I'm not sure if the changes are permanent or whether Telkom DSLAMs support this though. The software mentioned in the second link also allows you to tweak the upload and download Tx powers of the router to improve stability or speed etc.

v1.02.13 SUCKS!!! I did the upgrade (went smoothly) and everything seemed fine, until I did a file transfer (over wifi) from my desktop to my laptop (with the latter literally 1m away from the router), and Netmeter reported a very inconsistent download speed - within 5s, it would vary from 3MB/sec to 500KB/sec (and numbers in between). In other words, data was not being sent in a constant stream.

I reverted back to v1.02.09, and I get a solid stream of data (3MB/sec constantly). So, this leads me to believe that the wireless performance of the latest firmware is broken.

Anyone else notice this?

Nope? I can now access the INTERNET over wifi without a hitch where I could not before?

Yeah, I noticed your post about being able to access the net with your N95 with the new firmware. That's really strange. Perhaps the new firmware somehow boosts signal at the cost of speed...? Or, maybe I'm just unlucky!

I'm happy with the old firmware. The bugs fixed in the new version aren't any that affect me. Hopefully, if the performance is a bug, they'll fix it soon.

im having problems with my N95 8GB firmware V15.XXX and this update V1.02.13 , the netgear firmware does not find the MAC adress of the phone ???? , if i revert back to V1.02.09 , everything works perfectly

I loaded 1.02.14, everything works. However, I noticed a new menu option "Advanced Wireless Settings" and when I click on it, it loads the options but in the frame on the far right (where the help menu usually loads) it displays "Can't open file h_wds.htm".
Does anyone else get this?

Despite upgrading soon after this version came out, I only just noticed this new "Advanced Wireless Settings" page also. I am not able to get the help page to load either, but the settings do load for it (in the center frame). I find the addition of a repeater mode quite intriguing. I'm impressed they have added in new features on this model, which has been around for a long time. I'm actually tempted to get a second DG834GT and set it up as a repeater for the upper level of my house (so I can get very strong signal everywhere). Anyone actually tried this to see if it works?

watch out for the down TWO disadvantages to using WDS are
ps dont think many ppl do option 2.

1.Wireless throughput is cut approximately in half for each WDS repeating "hop", i.e. an AP that data flows through before hitting the wired network. This is because all transmissions use the same channel and radio and must be retransmitted to reach the wired LAN.
2.Dynamically assigned and rotated encryption keys are usually not supported in a WDS connection. This means that dynamic Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and other dynamic key assignment technology in most cases can not be used, though WPA using pre-shared keys is possible. This is due to the lack of standardisation in this field, which will hopefully be resolved with the upcoming 802.11s standard. As a result only static WEP or WPA keys may be used in a WDS connection, including any STAs that associate to a WDS repeating AP.

Check out DGTeam custom firmware very very nice

Wait a minute. The "Advanced Wireless Settings" page on my DG834GT refers to options for WDS, not WPS - e.g. making the DG834GT act as a repeater. Is this what they are referring to?

Nice update. They also seem to have fixed an issue that refused to allow Trillian to access the general IM ports. *happy* :D
