You are mistaken.

It is actually a Volvo designed and manufactured 5cyl engine which was used in the Focus ST, Volvo C30 and S40 T5, Volvo S60R, Focus RS etc.

4Motion - many manufacturers have built straight 5 engines, not just VAG. They did make the one and only V5 though if I am not mistaken (Jetta Mk4 V5). But mentioning VAGs in a Ford Focus thread is never a good idea, there is no way the plump, conservative and boringly reliable hausfrau like Golf can compete with the aggressive and modern styling of the new Focus, let alone the sexy and sleek Giulietta-ish Astra Mk9
