It's been running smoothly for months.

I still see a lot of negatives by current owners of the HD Decoder.

Maybe some of the issues can (still) be addressed by new firmware, however the slow CPU can't.

Looks as if I'm still going to have to wait ...

Anyway, no need to have a fight about this, IMHO MC is just not providing much value - I may even cancel it, then I don't need a PVR. Just think how many good movies I can rent for the same money - and with better sound and image quality. And I can go and watch sport at the local pub, much better atmosphere (and beer) there !

Well you can keep waiting then Jola...

The "slowness" has NOTHING to do with the slow CPU, and everything to do with MC's software, which won't be solved by a new decoder since it will run exactly the same MC software

AFAIK DirecTV is cable and not SAT. Sooooo don't hold your breath unless there are a truckload of new Sats being launched. :-(

Well, if that is true then the problem can in theory be solved - except that MC have now been working on this for quite a long time

The problem with 1080p is that DSTV doesn't have enough bandwidth to play around with to broadcast at 1080p, unlike the okes over in the States. It takes 2 steps more processing and takes up more than 60% more bandwidth than regular 720p.

With the right screen size, 720p and 1080p is discernible. Lets just worry about increasing the number of HD channels first ;).
