Why did you go for 16MB Cache hard drives :/

Why did you go for 16MB Cache hard drives :/

From everything I can find on the net, there is very no noticeable difference between 32 and 16 for gaming, only with heavy database use there is a slight difference, also these are 7200.12's with single platters, that and they were a very reasonable price ;)

I got my rig yesterday. Cost R12k... but thats only coz I got an uber discount from someone who works there. Its pretty but I'm wondering what else to put on it except Warcraft (lol@me)

Enjoy your rig Deon - its going to be kickass!!

Received HALF the components today! PCInt delivered, ComX hopefully tomorrow.

Spending my time gently blowing on the CPU cooler fan and watching the "No Signal" splash bouncing around the screen. 12 hours to go until I can pry the rest out of the surprised courier depot clerk's hands.

This must be what hell is like...

EDIT:
Correction, hell is when you get an email from ComX that they shipped your order without the memory since they don't have stock. This after I confirmed stock with them via email 2x before making the payment. UNBELIEVABLE

So beware ComX the lying sons of bitches.

What would the cheapest alternative be to get the system going tomorrow, I assume DDR2 will not work?

Will the system be able to operate with one DDR3 module until the ComX idiots get their act together, or will this severely cripple the system?

lol it will run but not nearly to it's full potential.
Bare in mind it might not particularly be comx's fault, often the suppliers list stock available yet when you get there they don't have stock

Still waiting for my memory, tired of ranting about it.

BUT

I could not phantom waiting for the memory to arrive so I went out and bought the cheapest 2GB DDR3 chip I could find to get the action going. Even in this crippled config it tears through everything I throw at it. Best R390 I spend in a long time (price of 2GB DDR3)

Can't wait to see what he triple channel does for performance, that's if ComX ever gets around to sending it... (walking away from keyboard now to avoid temper tantrum).

You are loading win7 on that monster hopefully, aren't you?
