Yep, Plex works great on both the old and new Chromecasts. Things load slightly quicker on the one and it handles higher bitrate stuff better with the improved wifi.

IMO, any streaming \ media device that doesn't have a Plex app is not worth the bother.

Hehe, I know - I was referring to your earlier post.

I built a little XBMC box the other day (more to play with ITX hardware than actual need) and now have XBMC and Plex access to local content. They're both really good pieces of software - I'd definitely give Plex the edge in general user-friendliness though.

I see the Chromecast (2) on Takealot is out of stock. Also thought I'd mention Emby as an awesome alternative to Plex.
It is Opensource (used to be MediaBrowser) and it has really come a long way. Works with Kodi, Chromecast, Smart TVs, PS3/PS4 etc.
