I really hope they get that local Gmail cache that they were talking about. With International bandwidth set to drop thanks to SEACOM now might be the time. Imagine being able to access your Gmail using local ADSL bandwidth. Sweet!

Sometimes it takes a long time for gmail to load or google results to appear. Say compared to a yahoo seach. Why would this be?

Depending on your provider, you may be accessing it via an Akamai cluster and your ISP would be the bottleneck.
