New GPU

You couldnt have posted this in a more incorrect section if you tried.

Sometime in Q2 apparently.
 
RX 5xx will drop first in Q2, followed by Vega.

Have to say I'm a bit disappointed if the rumours are true: it's just a rebadged RX 4xx with slightly higher clocks (not like AMD to something like that *whistle*). Will definitely hold out for Vega in that case, or go nVidia instead.
 
If you had to only choose between the 1050 and the 460 I would go with the 1050, the 2GB 460 is pretty terrible and the 2GB 1050 is slightly better.

The 280x is a better card than both of them but does use more power.
 
Turns out in second in line for the 280x. If I don't get that then I'm not sure.

I'm coming from a 5850 so anything is going to be a significant upgrade, but I'd like to get some longevity obviously.

Bang for buck is of course always an issue, as is longevity.

I've read many conflicting opinions regarding these cards, so some experienced / knowledgeable input from people I 9somewhat) know would be appreciated.

Out of those the 1050ti is the best but it's actually not good value when compared to a RX 470 except you'll be moving up on your budget if you chose a RX 470 which you can pick up for around R3k. There are still plenty of second hand options in the 2-3k range which will also be better.

R3k is not doable unfortunately - moving into a new place which requires rent deposit etc.

Links to said GPUs Haven't found anything that seems like a good deal. I would want some sort of warranty available which I haven't found on any 2nd hand cards, but if you have seen, please do link me, I am hungry for silicon flavoured FPS...

Survive for a month or two and add to the GPU budget or go second hand would be your best bet.

Ye, I just checked most of those cards on Carb are all sold.

The 1050ti would be your best bet imo.

I have a RX 470 I bought last year. I just thought R2000 is a bargain.

R2600 is still great, you played on a laptop two weeks ago.
