hi

i just bought new pc:
E8400 m(1333mhz FSB)
Corsair 2gig 2x 1024mb 1333 9-9-9-24 DHX
MSi X38 Diamond
HD 4850 radeon

for some reason the damn bios wont clock my Dram at its normal (as above) setting,it keeps my cpu fsb at 266mhz (*quad pumped) and my dram at 1066mhz,when i tri to set the speeds t there norml timings and save and try to boot my pc restarts not even pssing post, when i finaly manged to clock it all at 1333 FSB( dram at 669mhz (1:2 ratio) and cpu at 1333 FSB) i ran FEAR and Crysis...but my pc keeps restrating and locking up:confused:

plz help...haved slept in 2days struggeling with these settings:mad:

thats rather interesting, but as far as I know, when your fsb is 266 and means your ram is running at 2*266= 532 mhz, which makes no sense, you are right in saying that the fsb is quad pumped, but that means your fsb is only around the 1066 mark.

Can i ask you to go onto windows, and run cpu-z (you can download it from anywhere) and just check:
a) your fsb
B) your core clock
c) your rams speed

this should share some light on us, :P

I wonder if the fsb is not multiplied 5 time, coz that means:5*266=1330(what your fsb should be)

May I ask when you have a look at CPU-Z can you perhaps tell me what "spepping" your E8200 is, I see on MSI's webiste that the 1.3 Bios update for your Mobo states:
Wolfdale E8400 (3GHz, E0, 65W) has a 9.0 Ratio "since 1.3"
Wolfdale E8400 (3GHz, C0, 65W) has a 9.5 Ratio but is "under testing"

When you are in the bios, is your FSB/Memory Ratio set to "Automatic"? have you also tried to set your FSB/Ratio to 1:1 instead of 1:2?

Definitely the bios, had same problem this week, and a bios upgrade sorted it.

The mobo clocked an E2220 @ 50hz fsb, that gave the cpu a speed of 600Mhz instead of 2.4Ghz, and no matter what i did, i could not change that, until the bios change.

ha ha ha, I bet that would have been rather fun when using windows

hey

my stepping is 6 en revision is CO that is under testing, and ja tried all the ration settings

my bus speed is at 334mhz
my cores at 3006mhz
multiplier at x9.0
FSB 1336.1mhz

DRAM aty 534.4mhz (should be 666mhz)

I don't see a problem then if your CPU is at ~3Ghz [The 8200's stock speed is 2.6Ghz I think] then the lower DRAM speed should not make a real diffrence at all. IMO it seems as if you are overclocking it, and have hit the boards max DRAM speed limmit. Could be wrong this is just my guess
